Doreen is the Mannings queen as ladies enjoy fun competition in the wet

Mannings Heath’s ladies kicked off the year with a 13-hole fun competition on a very wet Kingfisher course in which only the best nine holes counted.

Scoring was impressive despite the heavy going with Doreen Dinnage leading the Silver Division with 21 stableford points and Sam Barnes and Sandra Roberts only a point behind.

Sandra Forsyth’s 20 points earned her the Bronze Division honours with Joyce Watson, 18, and Marion Gibson, 16, her nearest challengers.

Saturday’s cold and drizzle saw the Juniors open their 2013 Order of Merit race on Waterfall where ten-handicap Josh Budd got away to a flying start with a par and two birdies on his opening three holes.

His final tally of 35 points was a point too good for Elliot Hogg and two clear of Louis Harrison and Luke Bennett.
