Cammi is Horsham’s star performer

Cammi Cowan was the pick of the Horsham Blue Star Harriers in the opening Sussex Cross Country league fixture high on the Downs at Goodwood.

In almost ideal cross country running conditions, the Blue Stars were well represented, and Cowan produced an excellent run to finish seventh in the large senior women’s field, clocking 19mins 27secs for the 5km course.

She was closely followed by Rebecca Adams, who ran 19m,56s to take 13th place with Maisie Boast finishing 76th in 24m,35s.

In the Senior Men’s race, run over 8km, Adrian Fautly was 18th in a field for 17- runners, in a time of 28m,25s, while Sam Taylor was 61st in 31m,28s. The 5km Under 17 Men’s saw Daniel Eeles finish sixth in 16m,58s, with Will Thomas 15th in 17m,38s.

Neave Scott ran well to take seventh in 13m, 4s in the 3km Under 13 Girls’ race.

Racing over the same distance the Under 13 Boys event saw Connor Dearden the leading Blue Star finisher in 12m, 2s and with Oliver Perrin 29th (12m, 43s) and Peter Thomas 33rd (12m, 55s) for eighth overall.

The Under 15 Girls team finished fifth with Megan Allerton 16th (17m, 59s), Katie Perrin 18th (18m29s and Erin Bateman 19th (18m, 40s making up the team.

The Under 15 Boys team were led home by Jack Milnthorpe in 15th in 16m, 44s, with Euan Thomas 20th (17m, 8s) and Luke Triccas 30th (19m, 39s) bringing the team home in seventh.
