Atlantis trio hoping to make big waves at national events

Three of Atlantis Swimming Club's top swimmers have qualified to represent the club at the national swimming championships.

Lily Davis, Freya Fulcher and Rebecca Barber has also swam superbly to secure their places at the event in Sheffield at the end of July.

Davis, 16, has once again qualified for the GB National Swimming Championships competing in the 100m breaststroke and the 50m breaststroke - for which she is currently ranked seventh in the UK.

Davis is no stranger to competing at this level and hopes to be amongst the medal contenders.

Fulcher has qualified to represent Atlantis at the Home Nations Championships in the 100m backstroke event.

She has been perfecting her stroke over the last season under the guidance of her coach Andy Lobley and is now proving a formidable talent at backstroke.

Youngest of the Atlantis trio is the 13-year-old multi-talented Barber who is also competing at the Home Nations Championships.

She has qualified in the 200m breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

The event will be Barber’s first time at this competition, but she is certainly a bright young star and one to watch out for in the future.

Richard Hayes said: “This is a tremendous achievement for the girls to reach the national swimming finals.

“They train for many hours each week early mornings and evenings. We wish them all the best of luck.”

Other recent notable performances from the younger swimmers at the club were bronze medals for Michael Pallister and Olivia Round Pitman at the South East Regional Championships last month.
