Horsham Hawks youth basketball club’s under-11s offered a masterclass in passing and defence during an emphatic 86-33 defeat of Worthing D&D.
An intense start saw the Hawks create wave after wave of scoring opportunities, and the first half finished with a relentless 16-0 scoring run which propelled them into a 42-14 advantage.
A strong third period ended with another Hawks scoring burst, this time a 14-0 run, which extended the lead to 66-20. Despite a much tighter fourth period, it could not stop the Hawks from going into the Christmas break with a record of five wins and the losses and puts the team on pace to qualify for the Sussex play-offs in April.
Coach David Clayton said: “I felt so proud of the way the team played today and thoroughly enjoyed watching.”
