Horsham Table Tennis Club members Holly Holder and Dan Barna were among the star performers at the Tees Sport Sussex 4 Star Junior Open in Crawley at the weekend.

Top seed Holly won the Cadet Girls Under-15s Band at the K2 Leisure Centre, beating Ireland’s Elayna McGlone 8-1/5-11/11-8/11-7/11-5 in the final. She had earlier neaten third seed Eda Aydin in the semi final after winning her group.

Meanwhile, Barna won his group in the Junior Open Singles (U18s) gaining three victories including the scalp of Jersey’s Chris Morshead, who went on to win the Band 2 Singles.

However he bowed out against the most improved player at the tournament, Joseph Langham-Ferreira (Surrey) 3-0 in the last 32. Barna will be representing Horsham in the Senior British League in Slough this weekend.

Other Sussex successes saw Crawley’s Kate Cheer - who trains at Horsham TTC’s Greenway School base - made the final of the under-13 Band 3 singles.
