HORSHAM YMCA’S three game unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday when they slipped out of the FA Vase at the hands of Deal Town.
Sammy Donnelly’s men failed to assert themselves for much of a fragmented game, and were punished by goals either side of half time through Sam Pain and Aaron robinson. Dan Sullivan’s superb late free kick gave YM hope, but they were unable to force a replay during a frantic five minutes of stoppage time.
“In the last five to ten minutes we showed some urgency, but we’ve seen that all before,” manager Donnelly remarked. “I didn’t think they were a bad team; they were well organised and played the one boy up top who was quite strong.
“But the two goals were questionable, and it was a poor goal we conceded just before half time. That’s one of those things.”
