TWO HORSHAM swimmers have booked their place at the National Finals next year.
Atlantis SC members Cam Lambourne and Bex Lobley achieved National Qualifying Times (NQT) and will compete in the finals at Sheffield in July.
Cam, 16, had already secured a NQT for his premier 100m freestyle event over the 25m short course at the National Inter-counties Championships in Sheffield in October, and repeated the feat in the 50m long course format. Electing to go for a 100m time trial during the 200m free event, he powered ahead of the rest of the heat to set himself up with a great chance in the final 50m. He judged it perfectly and touched in a time of 53.88secs, inside the NQT of 54.47s.
Bex, also 16, took control of her heat from the start and surged into a decisive lead. Swimming with great determination and control, and with no-one to swim against she maintained her tempo throughout to finish in an excellent time of 2min 43.22secs, well inside the NQT of 2m 46.17s.
