Slinfold’s Bertie Chambers helped England to a third place finish in the Four Nations Golf Challenge Grand Final in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Playing at The Oxfordshire GC, Bertie and Surrey partner Charlie Jones, progressed through several knockout rounds before winning the regional qualifier to make the 12-man England team.
After leading England out, the duo lost their pairs semi-final against Wales in challenging wet weather as the team drew 3-3, before the pair suffered more agony the next morning as they lost a sudden death play-off.
Chambers and Jones did their best to put their disappointment behind them against Scotland but a narrow loss didn’t prove costly as England grabbed third prize with a 4-2 victory in windy conditions.
Ireland clinched the Four Nations title for the second successive year as they edged a tight final with Wales by a single point, after defeating Scotland 4½-1½ the previous day.
