MILLAIS School student Caitlin Ward is celebrating a call-up to the London and South East Divisional Girls Rugby Squad.
The Year Ten pupil attended trials at Hampton Court, West London and was one of 75 Under-15 girls spanning eight counties, trying out for one of 30 places.
Caitlin plays outside centre for London Irish and for Surrey and has worked hard to achieve high levels of fitness. She has been involved in numerous cross country runs in the Kent and Sussex league, Track and Field in Sussex but mostly in Shotokan karate for the Japan Karate Association England Squad. Between the ages of 9-13 she competed in several countries bringing back medals in kata and kumite.
Caitlin was introduced to Rugby at Millais in Year Eight when attending the after school club.
She was soon trying out for Sussex County, and having gained a place on the squad she progressed to the South East Squad in 2010 and was a strong contingent in the team who they came fourth in the Cup at the National Festival in Lichfield.
