Marco Penge has been selected to play in the Jacques Leglise Trophy.
The annual international match is played between two selected teams of nine amateurs representing Great Britain, Ireland and the continent of Europe.
Over the weekend, Penge received a call from Peter McEvoy OBE to confirm his place in the team for the match at Barseback Golf Club, Sweden from August 29.
This was timely news for Penge who recently had to pull out of the British Boys Championship due to a nagging back muscle strain.
This week he returns to training and will be aiming to break into the top 100 men’s European rankings – he currently stands in 108th position.
This is Penge’s second consecutive appearance in a winning squad as last year they claimed a convincing 15-9 victory over the Continent of Europe at Royal St David’s Golf Club, Harlech, to post their 22nd victory in a contest that was inaugurated back in 1984 at Royal Porthcawl in Wales.
