Rising motorcycle racing star Sam Osborne returned home with a clutch of trophies from an exciting weekend battling it out on the track at Snetterton.
Rookie Sam, 22, from Billingshurst, is continuing to carve out a formidable reputation in his first season in the Hottrax Motorsport Championship, having made the podium at every meeting.
At Snetteron in round six, he picked up a second place and three thirds in the Modern Classic Supersport pre-injection class.
He also managed to beat 1,000cc bikes taking part as a different class in the same race – competing against seasoned racers, and with his 600cc Yamaha R6 under-powered by 20bhp.
After qualifying 16th on the grid alongside racers including British Superbike Championship ace Kingsley Ruddy, Osborne thrashed it out on the three-mile Snetterton 300 circuit, shaving his lap time from 2.24mins to 2.06 – just five seconds behind the winner’s best lap time.
Osborne said: “It was the best battle of my season so far, swapping places with two other riders every lap.”
His talents on the track saw him signed up to RaceworX race team in May this year. Osborne is determined to keep building on his impressive debut at Brands Hatch in March.
Afer a BSB team spotted his skills, he has been offered the chance of a ride on a brand-new Superstock R6 at Oulton Park, in September, providing he can get together the money to guarantee against any spills or damage.
