HORSHAM Hockey Club ladies coach Warren Gilmour has called for his team to dig in after their nightmare start to the season.
The Reds are bottom of the East Conference of the England Hockey League after losing their five opening games. And after Saturday’s 5-0 defeat to Surbiton, Gilmour admits it is a struggle.
He said: “We have to keep going and trying to take a step forward,” he remarked. “It’s a bit hard to take, but they are a good side and will be up there if they do not win the league.
Horsham had not made many changes to personnel during the summer months, and Gilmour believes the financial might of some of the teams in the division is starting to take its toll.
He declared: “There is not a lot of difference from the team we had last year. A couple of teams have come in with a bit of money and a few teams have recruited a lot of players.
“If you stand still it will be difficult and we know we have to dig in.”
