THE MARTLETS Short Mat Bowls Club added to their growing lost of honours by lifting the West Sussex County Triples Championship.

Chris Rolph, Mel Lillywhite and Marc Lancaster overcame a strong field during the day long tournament held at the Six Villages Sports Centre, near Bognor Regis.

In the final, the Martlets trio staged a stunning fight-back against Ray Harding, Peter Winter and Peter Whale to claim the crown. Lavant appeared on course to retain the championship as they held a 5-1 advantage. But Chris, Mel and Marc went into the final end one shot ahead, and some fine bowls tied the end up to secure the title. Slinfold Infinity (Melanie Haulkham, Ben Haulkham and Chris Page) reached the semi final, while the other mMrtlets team of Chris Blackman, Malcolm Rollings and Jack Rollings also featured in the last four.
