HORSHAM handball ace Mark Hawkins has given his London 2012 preparations a big boost by signing for a top club in Iceland.
The 25 year old, who has been playing for Danish Second Division side HK Aarhus Nord for the last three years, has joined UMF Afturelding, a team in the top flight in Iceland.
The Great Britain star said: “It’s my first professional contract and I’ve been picked up by a great club so it’s a really good situation to be in just a year before the Olympics.”
For the full story on Mark’s hopes for next year’s London Olympics and why seeing himself on the billboards at Gatwick is still surreal, pick up your copy of the West Sussex County Times, out on Thursday.
