Magpies boss unfazed at propping up the table

LOXWOOD secured only their second league win of the season last night (Tuesday) with a 2-1 home win over Rustington.

Goals from Damon Aston and Ben Bissett put the Magpies 2-0 up before the Blues pulled one back, but the hosts held on for a vital three points.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Eastbourne Utd AFC makes it four points in a good four days, though it has not been enough to lift them off the bottom of County League Division 2.

Not that boss Barry Hunter is concerned. He said: “I was very happy with the performance, we played really well, especially in the first half and at 2-0 up we were in a good position.

“They got a goal back and put us under some pressure but we deserved the victory.

“Our position in the league is something of a false one and is mainly down to the injury problems we had early on in the season. I’m not concerned, I’m sure we will start climbing the table and we’ve got a few games in hand and if we win those we’ll be in mid-table anyway.”
