COUNTY League Loxwood were far from disgraced last night in their 3-1 Sussex Senior Cup defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion Reserves.
Trailing 3-0 at the break to goals from James Smith and Anton Rodgers (two), the Magpies responded with a bright second half display in front of their largest ever home crowd.
Ben Bissett converted a penalty with 15 minutes remaining after substitute Jude Nwachukwu was felled inside the box, and when Claude Pett saw his lob come back off the crossbar Loxwood were dreaming of what might have been. And Loxwood keeper Sam Smith kept his side in the game with a string of superb second half saves, including Rodgers’ spot kick late on.
Manager Barry Hunter said: “It was a great experience, I am really proud of the club tonight.”
