HORSHAM boss Hugo Langton reckons the old saying that seeing magpies brings you luck has been disproved after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Harrow.
Langton said: “I saw two mapgpies while I was walking from the station to the ground and thought it was an omen we were going to win as it’s supposed to be one magpie for sorrow, two for joy.
“But our result was disappointing and just shows that old wives’ tale is a load of old nonsense!”
Langton felt his players defended well but lacked the creativity needed to score a goal.
He said: “I’m disappointed that all the hard work we’ve put in during the last three games became undone. I didn’t think we competed. We didn’t keep the ball well or pass the ball well.
“When you’re playing against three at the back you need to get behind them in wide areas to get balls in the box and we didn’t which is disappointing.
“In their final third we lacked creativity and the will to put the ball in the back of the net. That shocked me when you consider who we have got and the pace we have in the team.
“It wasn’t our day today and the difference between the two sides was they wanted it a bit more than we did. They closed us down well and they had belief when they went forward.
“I fee sorry for my back-four, they gave their all they had a lot to deal with and I thought Liam Flanigan was outstanding and stuck to his task well.
”But you can’t defend for 80 percent of the time like we did which is disappointing as we had a game-plan and it wasn’t executed.”
