SOUTHWATER racing driver Jolyon Palmer wants points finishes from this weekend’s GP2 races in Barcelona.
It will be Jolyon’s second race weekend in GP2 series, which will see the third and fourth round of the Formula 1 feeder series take place.
In a solid performance in Turkey earlier this month Jolyon secured a top ten finish and ended as the best of this year’s rookie drivers.
The 20-year-old is now hoping he can carry over his good form to the 4.655km Circuit de Catalunya circuit – a track he knows well.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend,” said Jolyon, who races for Arden International. “We’ve already done two days of testing at Barcelona so I feel I know the track well. As in Turkey, the races will all come down to tyre degradation so I think this will be the main focus throughout the weekend. I’m hoping for my first points finish, as so far I’ve had decent pace but nothing to show for it.”
Jolyon, son for of former Formula 1 driver Jonathan, stepped up to the GP2 series after a successful season in the FIA Formula Two Championship last year, in which he narrowly missed out on the title spot at the final round, finishing second overall.
