The maiden running of the event was over a new course and also the final race of the league season.

With bonfires still smouldering from celebrations the night before, the brand-new course took place over the Denne Hill and Chesworth Farm areas on a four-and-a-half mile cross-country course.

There was a fantastic turnout of 355 runners and the home team rounded off the season with a creditable sixth place out of the 18 teams.

It was a fine achievement as so many Joggers were volunteering to help the run go off without a hitch.

The race winner was Worthing Harrier Martin Footman, who finished in 25min 57sec.

That was ahead of second-placed Lewis Sida in 26-38 and Tom Payne a further two seconds back. The first female was Emma Macready who completed the course in 28-07.
