Horsham discus star Jade Lally was eighth out of 12 representing Great Britain at the European Team Championships in Braunschweig in Germany on Saturday.

She threw 53.71 metres as Team GB finished fifth.

Jade, 27, Tweeted: “A not very good 8th place today with a very below par distance. Consistency is hit or miss atm and unfortunately today, it was a miss!”

She added: “I really enjoy the Team Championships, the standard of competition is always high and there’s a real sense of team spirit.

“Eighth place was very disappointing and my distance even more so. I think that’s the first international meet I’ve really under-performed at.

“But I know what I’m doing wrong, it’s just a matter of time before I fix it.”

Jade is keen to bounce back to win the British Championships for the fourth time this weekend at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham as she bids to earn selection for this year’s European Championships in Zurich.

She said: “It’s important for me to win and and get as close as possible to 59m which is the European standard.

“Fingers crossed I can fix the technical problem this week!”
