Horsham edged out Maidenhead in a thrilling game on Saturday to climb up to second in the Invetstec Women’s Conference East.
All the goals in the 3-2 win came in the first half with Steph Baggett, Fran Crossley and Steph Dent on target for the hosts.
Horsham captain Hannah Simpson said: “We are very pleased with our start to the season, but we need to continue this forward into what will be a tough game against Sevenoaks.”
Horsham came out fighting and scored from a short corner, before good passages of play resulted in their second goal. Two well-worked short corners drew it back to 2-2, before both keepers made a series of saves.
Horsham netted what turned out to be the winner on the stroke of half-time. In an eventful second half, they had two penalty strokes saved, while Maidenhead received two yellow cards.
