HORSHAM Hockey Club’s Ladies just missed out on a place in Division 1 of next year’s National Indoor League, but still ended the campaign on a high.
Steph Dent’s side had already secured promotion to Division 2 two weeks ago in the first of the two National League weekends, and a top two place at this week’s tournament would have gain promotion to Division 1.
With a bigger squad including keeper Hannah Simpson, outdoor captain Zeph Fisher and Australian ace Ellen Seaniger, Horsham produced some creditable results, but finished third.
Captain Dent remarked: “It was an honour to captain this side into the National league and secure our position for next season. The team played fantastically right from the first regional qualifiers through to the Division 2 tournament this weekend.
“Jess Dean, being the youngest squad member at 17, was our highest goal scorer. She was superb for Horsham throughout the rounds and was deadly at short corners.”
