Regular player of the veterans’ team - fondly know as the Hobblers - Mike de Silva played in the over-65 division, while occasional Hobbler and Horsham men’s first-team manager Al Campbell was selected for the 0ver-60s.

They both featured in the four-way international tournament played between France, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

Wales over-65s won their tournament, unbeaten in three matches and de Silva stole the show with a hat-trick in his first-ever international.

Campbell first trialled for Wales as a schoolboy 45 years ago, with no success, and is proof that persistence pays off.

He follows in the footsteps of his son Freddie who has more than 30 junior caps for Wales and now plays midfield general for the Horsham front side.

Horsham start their season this weekend with an HA Cup Game at Oxford Hawks.
