THERE were two big reasons for Horsham Hockey Club’s ladies first team to celebrate at the weekend.
Not only did they reach the final of the Sussex Cup with a comfortable win over Brighton, but even more importantly they also saw their England Hockey League status maintainted.
On Saturday the team travelled to Sussex University to play their semi against Brighton I, and reached the final thanks to a 6-2 win. They now play Worthing I on Sunday May 13.
Over the last couple of weeks the ladies have also been locked in a three-way relegation play-off battle. A 5-0 win over Springfield and last week’s dramatic 1-1 draw with Bath Buccaneers had virtually guarenteed Horsham the sole survival spot, which was confirmed with Springfield and Bath seeing out a draw in the final match over the weekend.
