HORSHAM’S elite gymnasts are celebrating a first taste of international competition with a clutch of medal winning performances in Bulgaria.
Members of the Sports Acrobatics gymnastics Elite Team from Horsham Gym Centre, based at the Pavilions in the Park, competed at The Mayor’s Cup in Pravets over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Team, consisting of eight girls aged 11 – 16, were proud to be competing against 12 countries, performing tempo and balance routines to music in pairs or trios.
In this competition the scores for both routines were combined to take gymnasts through to the final the following day.
Despite competing against 18 groups the results saw Ella Courten and Georgie Vinten win gold in their tempo routine with Emily Steere, Charlotte Moger and Josie Laidman winning bronze in their balance routine, coming fourth overall in the competition.
Beth Cash, Kayleigh Pearce and Josie Wood won bronze in the tempo routine and came third overall in their category.
