Horsham District Bowls round-up

Southwater BC’s season finished on a mixed note, with a win against Leatherhead cancelled out by defeat to Henfield.

The rinks were shared against Leatherhead, but Jean Meinertzhagen, Brian French, Tony Woodard and skip John Coghlan’s +25 win ensured Southwater took the spoils. And Henfield proved too strong, as Stephanie Powell, Jean Chamberlain and skip Carol Fennell (+9) was the pick of their three winning rinks. Southwater’s top rink was Sheelagh Haughton, Monica Hargrave and skip Sheila Bonwick.

For Horsham Park, Robin Peters, Angela Spurr, Marie Davies and Brian Milner (29-18) were the pick of the three winning rinks in an 86-83 overall win against Dorking. The rinks were shared against Astolat, but David Peters, Dawn Howarth, John Dodridge and Brenda Thompson’s 25-10 victory, and seven shots on the 18th end from Bob Dominy could not prevent an overall loss of 86-70.

Billingshurst saw a half time lead disappear in their defeat to Hawth - Ray Sutton was top rink.
