Horsham Hockey Club want a season of stability in the EHL Conference East.

The ladies’ first XI enjoyed a fine start to the season last Saurday with a 3-2 win against a traditionally strong Ipswich, and after narrowly avoiding relegation last season new coach Paul Johnson wants to build.

He said: “It’s a good start, especially when you consider the season the girls had last year so it was pretty important to start with a win for our confidence.

“Ipswich are a side who, in previous years have been in the top leagues and they’ve still got some very good players so to get a result against them was a bit of a coup.”

“A lot of new players have come to the club so it’s a much bigger squad than last year. “The aim is to be mid-table by Christmas and push on from there and not be in a relegation battle.”
