Lower Beeding trained racehorse Fruity O’Rooney will aim for glory in this afternoon’s Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.

Trained by Gary Moore at Cisswood Stables, Fruity is one of 22 horses entered into one of the richest handicap chases in the national hunt calendar, with £150,000 of prize money on offer.

Last season, Fruity O’Rooney won at Kempton’s Christmas meeting and had a close second place finish during the Cheltenham Festival, and he will be up against Cheltenham Festival winners Bobs Worth

and Tidal Bay, while two of the current favourites Hold on Julio and The Package finished behind Fruity at Cheltenham last March.
