THE HORSHAM Under-11 rugby team lost bravely 19-7 to a well-drilled Brighton side in the Sussex Final on Sunday.
Trailing by two tries to zero at the interval, Horsham showed great resolve to press Brighton’s line for extended periods in the second half.
Direct running from the forwards was finally rewarded with a try by dynamic lock Oscar Quigley, and with captain Joe Blake coolly converting the score, Horsham were back in contention. Brighton’s defence kept them out, and they scored a third try to end Horsham’s hopes.
Horsham head coach Dayle Kirby said: “We’re disappointed, of course, but Brighton has shown us the standard to which we must now aspire. We’ve had a wonderful season, winning four local festivals, including the West Sussex, and we’re now looking forward to our tour to South Wales.” For a team picture visit www.wscountytimes.co.uk
