Amy Fitzpatrick and Catriona Jamieson confirmed their status among the leading young athletes in the county as the Horsham Blue Star Harriers took third at the Sussex Under-13 final.
There were several Horsham winners at the final held in Crawley, as Fitzpatrick took advantage of a fall from her Crawley rival to win the 70m hurdles in a time of 12.1seconds. And in the javelin, Jamieson threw 29.61metres to win comfortably.
lsewhere on the track Sam Hughes and Jordan Levy teamed up in the 150m with Sam running 20.8s to take second place in the A string event and Jordan running 20.6s to win the B race. Sam had earlier finished second in the 75m , A string with Jonah Harewood also finishing second in the B race in 11.2s. Jamie Hughes took third place in the 600m in 1m52.1s. Jena Anderson ran 11.1s in the 75m to win the B event, the same time as team mate Jade Lindo ran in the A race for fifth place. Amy Fitzpatrick took second place in the B string 150m in 22.4s, and Abbie Lee took a third place in the 70m Hurdles B event in 14.2s. Bronwen Thomas and Romy van der Veen both ran well in the 1000m event with both taking fourth places running 3m29.5s and 3m41.0s respectively.
On the field Sam Jackson and Jared Allerton scored good points in the Boys Javelin event with Sam finishing third in the A event with a throw of 26.08m, with Jared throwing 25.22m which won him the B event. Sophie Ragg had a good afternoon taking two third places, firstly in the Long jump with a leap of 4.04m and then in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.30m, where Abbie Lee cleared 1.20m to win the B event. The Girls Javelin saw Izzy Donnelly take second place in the B event with a throw of 14.36m.
