Loxwood have lost strikers Damon Aston and Ben Bissett in the wake of manager Julian Miller’s departure.
Miller’s exit from the Plaistow Road club has caused controversy after he rejected a proposal to work alongside coach Dave Cocracchio as joint-manager.
And while Cocoracchio insists claims that there are a list of players lining up to leave are wide of the mark, he confirmed top scorer Aston has gone along with fellow front-man Bissett. Neither played in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Broadbridge Heath in County League Division 2.
Cocracchio said: “I don’t think there are many teams that would cope with losing players of that quality and their goals. Damon has been here four years and his record speaks for itself, we are parting on very good terms. He has a lot of loyalty to Julian and has played wherever he has gone. I don’t think there is a club in the County League who would not like to have Damon on their books.
“I think Ben was already uncertain about staying so this has made his decision for him. I wish both boys all the best.”
The club’s vision was for Miller and Cocoracchio to take the club forward together, and Cocoracchio was convinced it would have worked.
He added: “The dynamic between us was very good and I don’t think a lot would have changed. I have a lot of respect for Julian and I am saddened by this.
“It has been a difficult week for the club, especially the players. It has made them more determined to stand together as a unit and get the results we are capable of.”
