Jessie earns GB call up

BROADBRIDGE Heath teenager Jessie Drea has continued her assault on showjumping stardom with selection into the Great Briton team for the junior European Championships next week.

The 17-year-old is one of only five of the top young riders in Briton to be chosen to travel to Hoofddorp in Holland for the championships between July 1 and 5.

Having set new records and enjoyed superb success last year riding ponies, Jessie has been rewarded for another fine season after moving up to horses, and for her the championships provide another stepping stone to her ultimate ambition.

"I've been trying to get selected for the team by going to different Nations Cups and thankfully I've now made the last five so I'm really pleased," said Jessie, who has been training and riding full time since the age of 13.

This weekend Jessie will be riding her horse Tazman in the speed derby at Hickstead – a competition that attracts international riders with a first prize of 5,000.
