Horsham YMCA 2-1 Ashford Town
HORSHAM YMCA secured a huge three points last night with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Ashford Town – their first since the middle of August.
Home side YM looked nervy at the back in the opening exchanges and they went behind when stand-in captain Steve Metcalf handled in the area and Mitchell Sherwood stroked in the penalty.
YM got back on level terms ten minutes before the break when Nigel Brake curled a free kick into the bottom corner and the hosts were much improved in the second-half and Tom Manton scored the winner from the penalty spot after debutant Terry Dodd had been fouled in the area.
The win sees YM leapfrog Ashford in the Ryman One South table to 18th and move three points clear of the bottom side.
