Horsham 'embarrassed' by friendly loss

JOHN Maggs admits he is becoming concerned with his side's pre-season form following Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat at Worthing.

Horsham were outplayed by their Ryman League Division 1 South hosts at Woodside Road, and the boss told his squad performances like that were unacceptable.

He said: "Of the players on that pitch last night, 60 per cent of them were just not good enough. And I have told them so.

"I was embarrassed by it and I hope they were embarrassed, there was nothing about us and it is quite concerning."

Horsham were without key players such as Paul Kennett and Pat Harding - but of the XI which took the field, only Mithun Nayee, a former Crawley Town striker with first team experience, was a trailist.

Terry Dodd and Tom Lawley, both of whom were at Horsham YMCA last season, put Worthing into a two goal lead before Ryan Woodford added a late third.

Meanwhile, Maggs has named the players who have signed for the coming season.

Goalkeeper: Mark Zawaksi; Defenders: Jamal King, Ben Andrews, Tom Graves, Mark Knee, Jack Page, Eddie French, Ian Payne; Midfielders: John Westcott, Jay Lovett, Steve Sargent, Adam Hutchings, Sam Tucknott, Paul Kennett, Gary Charman; Forwards: Dean Wright, Pat Harding, Steve Davies.
