THE RESULTS of Ken Westoby’s scan show the Horsham goalkeeper has torn his cruciate ligament in his knee, ruling him out for at least the rest of the season.

The stopper, who has been understudy to Michael Hunter since his arrival from Crawley Down, suffered the injury when he slipped to make a clearance during The Hornets Brighton Charity Cup win at Southwick last Tuesday night (January 17).

Horsham manager Hugo Langton confirmed: “Unfortunately Ken will need a long lay-off, he’s done his cruciate ligament in his knee which was revealed in the scan result yesterday (Tuesday).

“We’re looking at him being out until around the end of the year, he certainly won’t be back for the rest of the season but he’s a fit young man so that will work in his favour.

“I’ve said to him this football club will look after him and when he comes back he’ll still very much be a Horsham player. I’m gutted for him because I understand he’s done it before and it’s unfortunate, the lad’s not played a game for a while and then 30 minutes in he has to be hospitalised. It sums up our season.”

Langton says he does not expect to draft in another goalkeeper as back up for Hunter because defender Calum McGeehan can also play in goal.
