Billingshurst gymnast Daniel Lee is taking his progress to the next level by training with Great Britain coaches.
The Weald School pupil has transferred from the Hawth Gymnastics Club in Crawley to the Dynamo School of Gymnastics in Southampton, where he will be working alongside GB squad coach Adam Paterson at the Hamble Community Sports College.
And the move has already paid dividends for the 14-year-old, with a fantastic performance to be crowned Southern Region Champion.
Daniel’s first taste of competition came within his new gym at the annual Regional championships, where he tested his skills again.
Daniel showed calm and consistent performances of his routines to take the all around Gold medal, scoring a solid 71.15 points.
He also took individual gold medals on floor (13.10points), vault (13.9pts) and parallel bars (13.05pts). Accompanying his golds Daniel took Silver medals on Rings and High Bar and Bronze on Pommel to complete the sweep of medals on every apparatus.
Daniel will now focus his efforts on improving the difficulty of his routines ahead of national championships in March when he will compete in the prestigious London Open, English National Championships and finally the British Championships being held in Liverpool’s 10,000 seat Echo Arena.
Director of coaching at Dynamo, Keith Richardson said “I’m sure he will rise to the occasion.”
