Andy Lampard struck a brace as Roffey’s topsy-turvey start to the season continued.= with a 3-0 defeat of Rottingdean Village.
Dan Redman’s team were on control for long periods after Lampard and Chris Dumbrill fired them into a 2-0 lead. Lampard then make sure of the points late on to ensure Roffey recovered from last week’s defeat to Sidlesham.
Manager Redman said: “I wanted a bit of a reaction to last week.
“I changed our system a bit, I went a bit more attacking and the players enjoyed the way we played.”
Lampard put Roffey ahead in the 25th minute when he converted a low Dumbrill cross from close range, and it was 2-0 moments later when Dumbrell caught everyone out by scoring direct from a free kick near the corner flag.
The hosts had to wait to extend their advantage further, but when Lampard latched on to a Sam Matthew’s through ball in the 88th minute he calmly tucked away their third goal.
Redman added: “Lamps will always get chances, and the good thing is we are creating lots of chances.”
