YM CRASHED out of the FA Cup in an exciting replay on Tuesday, undone by a hat-trick by Lancing’s Darren Boswell.
YM boss Sammy Donnelly said: “We were lacking a bit of quality but I can’t fault the fighting spirit in the side which helped us pull back and very much kept us in the game.”
YM were dealt a blow from the start as midfielder Mark Hawthorne was confined to the bench through illness and striker Dean Wright left the field early in the second half feeling unwell.
Lancing went ahead in the eighth minute when the pacey Paterson crossed from the left to find Martin a few yards out who made easy work of heading his side into the lead.
Just ten minutes later Paterson bundled their second goal in from a cross by Darren Annis.
YM recovered through a penalty by Eason awarded after Dan McLoughlin brought down YM’s Liam Hunter.
However Lancing regained their two-goal lead seven minutes before the break through a brilliantly taken goal by Boswell.
Substitute Charlie Abrehart headed YM back to 3-2 on the hour to finish a well worked goal supplied by Tim Martin.
But that was YM’s high point as Lancing made their superiority count with two late goals by Boswell, who confidently completed his hat-trick with a first time blast in the final minute.
Elsewhere in the County League Storrington won 2-1 at East Preston, while Steyning crashed to a 5-1 defeat at home to Midhurst & Easebourne and Loxwood lost 4-3 at Oakwood.
