Whyteleafe’s synthetic 3G surface got the seal of approval from Horsham this week.

The Hornets edged out their hosts 4-3 in a thrilling Ryman League South Division match in Surrey on Tuesday night.

The match was played on Leafe’s start-of-the-art plastic all-weather pitch and it gave Horsham a chance to test of the surface.

A similar pitch is planned to be installed at the Hop Oast site if plans for Hornets’ new ground get the go ahead.

Player-manager Gary Charman said: “It gets the thumbs up. It’s different, I am not going to beat around the bush. The bounce is a bit different, but there are lots of benefits.

“You have no games called off, you can hire it out and always train on it. The benefits are there to see, but you have to get used to it.

“It suits a side like us as we are a footballing side.”
