HORSHAM YMCA boss John Cumberbatch is refusing to give up hope of guiding his side to Ryman League safety.
They go into Saturday’s league match at Eastbourne Town rooted to the table and searching their first win in seven games.
A 2-0 defeat to Godalming on Saturday has only extended the odds of staying up, and coupled with Whitstable winning on Tuesday it leaves YM 13 points away from safety having played more games then most of the bottom teams.
Yet speaking after the Godalming game, Cumberbatch said: “They have all got to believe that it’s worth putting in the effort and that we can pick up points.
“Every time that we have picked up the one point or even the three points from a game, like Met. Police, the teams above have always more or less matched us.
“This has been difficult, but we have to remember that it can all so suddenly change.
“We are going to keep working at it and until it’s mathematically impossible, I will always believe that it can be done.”
