Steyning Town’s FA Vase match at Ashford United on Saturday is confirmed as going ahead despite the Kent side’s off-the-field problems.

Worries emerged as to the viability of the second-round clash last night amid reports that locks had been changed at the club’s Homelands stadium.

But the stadium’s operations director Colin Hallybone has confirmed to the County Times today that the match will go ahead.

He said: “Everything is as scheduled, although there has been a change at ownership level, nothing is changing on the football side.

“It’s merely a change of ownership which will have not effect on the football side.

“We’d say to Steyning bring as many fans as they can as it is all about the football.”

Reports in the Kent media, said on Wednesday a firm claiming to be owed £260,000 by the Nuts & Bolts had taken possession of the club.

It is reported that the Southern Counties East League Premier Division side have fallen in money problems after the installation of a 3G artificial surface.
