TD Shipley U12s were the big Horsham District winners at the weekend’s Furngate Sixes tournament.

The club entered two teams into the Under-12 group, and both excelled in their respective groups to reach the semi-finals.

TD Shipley W won four of their group games, including 2-0 wins over Wealden Rangers A and Crawley Down Hammers.

TD Shipley Z went unbeaten through their pool matches, their biggest wins coming against hosts Furngate Youth and Wealden Rangers B.

In a tense semi-final both sides faced each other in an all TD affair. A cracking match ensued which saw Ollie Mortimore hand TD Shipley Z the early lead.

But a well-taken goal from Scott Ryan made the score 1-1 at full time, and Scott struck again before Jack Stratton made a vital last-ditch challenge to put TD Shipley W into the final.

There they faced a tough Three Bridges Colts side in a match which would decide who went home champions.

Christian Tiley struck a post for Bridges with a long-range strike, but it was Scott Ryan - hero of the semi-final - who popped up again to score the winner at the start of the second-half as TD Shipley took the trophy.

TD Shipley W squad (and goals): Scott Ryan (5), Aiden Hunt, Matthew Macey (2), Jack Stratton, Luke Baldock (5), Dominic Southall (1), Henry Gosine, Kudzai Manjengwa.
