Swans a ‘work in progress’

Storrington boss Nigel Dyer has told his players to forget about their opening day horror show at Eastbourne Town.

Dyer’s Swans were hammered 6-0 with Liam Baitup helping himself to four of the hosts’ goals as Storrington began their league campaign with a heavy defeat.

Dyer said: “Well not the best start of the the season for us, certainly not helped by players not turning up to the game 25 minutes before kick off due to traffic conjestion because of the Eastbourne Air show. even though we allowed two hours for the journey.

“So no real proper warm up, thus not starting well, then it just continued through the game. Eastbourne were a decent side, but if we had played the way we know we can, then who knows what the result would of been.”

And ahead of their first home game of the season, against Newhaven this Saturday, Dyer said: “We will just forget about this one and move on to the next game and I am sure we will put in a lot better performance.

“We are still work in progress.”
