SOUTHWATER under-18s’ four game unbeaten run was halted by a loss at Selsey on Sunday.
An own goal in the first two minutes put Southwater on the back foot from the start, and they fell further behind when a long range Selsey effort struck the bar and ricocheted in off keeper Ryan Grimes’ back.
Despite their slow start, Southwater were able to dig in and created several chances, the pick of them going to Fabio Sarlo and Cam Miskin.
Southwater dominated the second half as Will Nash and George Moore pulled the strings in midfield and man of the match Josh Skipper mopped up Selsey’s attacks. Jack Morgan and Nick Robins pressed forward from defence, but with time running out, another long range effort from Selsey looped over the keeper to make it 3-0.
LOWER Beeding Lions ended their three match losing streak with a 2-2 draw against Broadbridge Heath.
The Lions went 1-0 down in the first half, but enjoyed plenty of pressure, and when Liam Ruz’s inch perfect pass found Glen Johnson he slammed home the leveller.
Callum Nash then gave the Lions a second half lead, and it looked as if they would be able to hold on until Heath’s pressure finally told with an equaliser minutes from time.
Liam Kidd was named man of the match.
A PENALTY save from goalkeeper Ben (pictured) helped inspire Roffey Robins Rockets to a 7-0 win against Copthorne.
It was the first spot-kick awarded against the Rockets since their formation at the start of the season as they took the first game comfortably.
The second game was reduced to 15 minutes each way, and the Rockets won 3-1. Roffey are looking for one more player to complete the squad, interested players parents should contact manager Rob Foley on 07775 647983.
