HORSHAM FC captain Ben Andrews has left the club after the remaining two years on his contract were terminated.
Next season’s playing budget has been slashed, and Andrews decided it would better in both the club’s and his interests if he departed.
The 30-year-old said he wanted to be part of a ‘competitive’ team and also that he did not want to be a burden on the club. So, his contract was terminated yesterday by mutual consent.
“I have got two years left of playing at a really good level,” Andrews said. “I feel that I need to be playing at a team that can be competitive.
“Obviously a lot has happened in the last few weeks and I felt it would be better in my and club’s interests.
“With what they have planned for next season what I didn’t want to do is start becoming a burden on the club in terms of my contract.”
