Storrington came from behind to force a 4-4 away draw at Saltdean on Tuesday night.

A brace by John Langredge combined with a goal each for Callum Bester and Tom Pickford, who clinched the point with an injury-time header.

The game was full of incident and saw three players sent-off, two from Saltdean and one from Storrington.

The Swans had to go into the game without their manager Nigel Dyer, who had to go into hospital after cutting off his finger in a nasty work-place accident.

Player/coach John Rhodie took charge alongside reserve team manager Paul Read.

Rhodie said: “It was a frantic game and one of the maddest and bizarre I have been involved in. It was very competitive with both sides challenging the referee’s decisions.

“In the end it got heated and though at the start we had wanted a win, in the end I was happy with a point as we had a lot of 17 and 18-year-olds who could have been bullied bit stuck with it.”

Storrington took the lead after five minutes when a ball in from the left by Kelvin Hobden was put away first time by Bester with a very good finish.

Saltdean then quickly gained the initiative to take a 2-1 lead with just 11 minutes gone through goals by Ryan Walton and Sam Partridge.

Langredge then volleyed a loose ball into the net to put Storrington back on level terms, before Saltdean went 3-2 at half-time through a second goal by Walton.

Langredge met a pass by Hobden with a cool finish after staying onside to equalise for Storrington with 11 minutes to go.

In a dramatic end to the game, three red cards were then awarded: Storrington’s John Prattley in the 83rd minute for kicking out after Saltdean’s Jamie Morgan threw a punch and was also dismissed. Saltdean goalkeeper Wayne Wilkinson saw red in injury-time after punching Ian Jarvie.

Two more goals were scored in the final minute - Walton completed his hat-trick for Saltdean from the penalty spot after their defender went down in the area.

Finally Pickford nodded Storrington to a draw in injury-time following Bester’s free-kick.

Storrington: Elliott, Naylor, Jarvie, Linssen (Minter 70), Bester, Rhodie, Giammattei (Prattley 75), Garrett (Matthews 75), Langredge, Hobden
