ALL CONQUERING Royal United Under-16s completed the ‘double double’ at the Horsham and District Youth Football League finals weekend.
Having already been crowned Division A Champions for the second season in a row, the Royals beat Dorking Saints in the Edwin Hill Cup final, their second successive Cup victory.
Royals started well with a number of chances coming their way, with Alex Parsons, Jake Legrange and Tom Killner-Brown going close. Connor Cushing, along with Alex Parsons were marshalling the centre of the park magnificently, with Stanley Rice and Jacob Waller using the width well and it was 0-0 at half time, with Aaron Chaplin producing a great save to keep out Dorking’s only real effort.
The second half saw Royals continue to play well, with Luke Polie, Harry Garman, Anthony Jupp and Greg Gander defending well. Stanley Rice then teed-up Jake Legrange with a diving header into the top corner to see Royals take the lead. Callum McHale then laid on a second for Jake Legrange, before Dorking got one back. However, Ant Jupp hit the Dorking crossbar from a free kick before Zachary Love finished a good move to see Royals win 3-1.
Manager Richard Chaplin said: “What this squad has achieved over the last two seasons is phenomenal. The lads have always trained hard, listened and work so well as a group. They play good, attractive passing football at a high tempo and their work-rate is second to none. They deserve every plaudit they receive and it’s been a pleasure for Dave Waller and I to be part of that.”
