Loxwood manager Mark Beard was dissapointed to concede a third successive goal from a set-piece in their defeat by Arundel.

Arundel opened the scoring after three minutes through Herbert, with Charlie Pitcher equalising with 20 minutes remaining.

The game looked set to end as a draw but in the dieing seconds Thoms scored a free header from a free kick, leaving Beard very unhappy.

He said: “We were winning week in week out, with 10 wins on the spin.

“But since our 4-0 win over Lancing, we’ve been conceding silly goals.

“I put it down to us losing key players, with Ryan Richefond going to Worthing and Ollie Gill getting injured.”

Loxwood started the game well, with Pitcher coming coming close after having an effort cleared off the line.

But Arundel went up the other end and took the lead after three minutes thanks to Herbert.

Despite going a goal down Loxwood got themselves back into the game and began to create chances.

At half time, Beard chose to change the system and Loxwood reverted to their usual 4-1-4-1 set up after starting the game in a 4-4-2 system.

They then equalised on the 67th minute through Pitcher.

It was a good team move, with Jon Nurse slipping through Mark Grave who then assisted Pitcher.

Loxwood then continued to create, with the game very much in the balance.

But in final minute of the game, Arundel won a free-kick. And with one of the last kicks of the game, the ball was whipped in to the back post, where Thoms waited before scoring from a free header.

Loxwood: Hilfiker, Nurse, French, Scally, Courtney, Swaine (Bachelor), Holvey, Wood, Pitcher (Pritchard), Jee.
