Horsham YMCA have finally got their man with the addition of prolific goalscorer Phil Johnson.
The striker netted 26 goals in 39 appearance for Hassocks last season and signed for Ryman League Premier Division side Burgess Hill in the summer.
Although the highly-regarded forward will be dual-signed with the Hillians, YM will have preference over his availability.
Johnson enjoyed four seasons at The Robins after progressing through the club’s youth and reserve team ranks.
He recently signed for Division 1 outfit Haywards Heath, but has now registered with the Gorings Mead outfit.
YM manager Peter Buckland said: “I have been chasing Phil’s signature for a long time and I felt that we needed to freshen up the squad a bit.
“Phil is an excellent player and gives us some good options in the last third of the pitch. I am very excited and can’t wait to see him in a YM shirt. All being well, he will make his debut this Saturday.”
Burgess Hill boss Ian Chapman added: “Unfortunately, Phil has joined Horsham YM because he wants first team football. Whilst I’m disappointed I fully understand his reasons.
“He will be dual-signed but YM will have preference over his availability.”
