Horsham’s new signing ruled out of Croydon clash

NEW Horsham striker Ashley Robinson will not be in the line up for tonight’s vital six pointer at home to Croydon Athletic.

Manager John Maggs had hoped to put Robinson straight into the starting XI after signing him last night. But under league rules he is not eligible to play for the Hornets until Saturday.

Robinson had only been snapped up by Horsham YMCA ten days earlier, and the Ryman League stipulates a player must be at a club for a minimum of two weeks before he can go elsewhere.

Maggs said: “He would have started tonight, and he was in my line up this morning, until we had confirmation from the Ryman League.”

Meanwhile, Horsham have released Hassan Nyang and Shane Graham in order to accommodate Robinson, and defender Paul Kennett is also ruled out of action due to illness. It means Tom Graves will return to the side to partner Jahmahl King in defence.

And in another change, Alan Mansfield will come in for Mark Zawadski in goal.

With Croydon bottom of the Ryman Premier, and Horsham now only five points clear of the drop zone, the importance of this fixture is not lost on the boss.

“Any other result than winning all three points will be no good to us,” he remarked.
